Over the Hill!

Well, since we are halfway through chemo... we had a little party.

Sydney hated the party hat... and both girls hated the balloon popping. Hence, we have no happy smiling pictures... But Q was surprised and pleased that we thought enough to throw the party.

Tate's Farm 2008

We took the girls to Tate's Farm today! They had a great time. I think Maddie likes the corn crib the best! Sydney wasn't sure about it at first, but adapted.

We petted bunnies and goats. We rode the hay ride to the pumpkin patch and picked 4 "perfect" pumpkins.

Maddie posed with the measuring pumpkin first... Then Sydney came along for her turn without ANY prompting! We were going to get a picture of the two of them together... but our scrappy Sydney Jo wanted the photo op all to herself. She pushed her big sis out of the way with an impressive straight arm. This is feisty behavior that we've seen before! Maddie doesn't push back... she just tattles in the whiniest voice you can imagine... sigh...

An odd pumpkin... but a great two seater!

Corn crib fun!

Maddie LOVED it!

Sydney was curious... but didn't like it sticking to her hands.

Anyone want to buy these mums?

On the hayride!

Ever seen such pretty sunflowers?

Wanna ride?

Sydney is notorious for putting things - anything and everything- in her mouth... but she never tried to eat the corn, even though it looks like she could have a mouthful at this moment...

She couldn't resist the pumpkins... She didn't even need them to be cooked into a pie!

So little she could hold them herself.

Last year she couldn't even stand up to be measured!

SO BIG!

Can you see how excited she is?

What about here? This girl LOVES animals!

Hello!

The goats were a little uptight! They moved away after each pet.

Little Miss Betty Crockers

I made brownies a couple of weeks ago when I hosted bunco for my HSS friends... Maddie asked to help me. So, we pulled out the stool so that she could reach the counter and help me out. It seemed like the perfect time to try out the aprons that the Easter bunny brought them last spring. Despite the fact that Sydney was ALMOST tripping over hers... it was cute and they were functional!

Maddie's Pet Lizard

Many of you know of Maddie's love for frogs... and turtles... and snakes... may reptiles and amphibians... and worms, etc. Well, I managed to catch a little bitty lizard not too long ago. I brought this lizard I brought him home in an empty water bottle and gave Grandparents instructions to let Maddie hold the lizard and let him go. BUT..... you know how Maddie can be sooooooo convincing. And Grandma Shelia is especially incapable of saying no. So we returned from Auburn to find that we had a new pet in our family. I went to pet smart to get lizard food. I was talked into some small crickets. ewww... he hasn't eaten any yet. he's also been pinned against the wall of the crab box turned lizard sanctuary by the fake rock water bowl we got him. Poor guy.

"Nice to meetcha, Mr. Wizard" She said....

He's been a great pet... not that he had a choice. Maddie would hold him between her fingers and do EVERYTHING... slide, climb on her play set, chase neighbors, pick crab apples, etc. She really did enjoy having him. I'm not sure how much longer he'll survive with the gimpy limbs that have been squished repeatedly... and the hunger strike.

Game Day

Tubberville called for all fans to wear BLUE.
Q didn't even have one! So we stopped in at Anders Friday night to get him one. He wanted one like the one I got, but they were out of his size. So he settled for the I Love Auburn Moms one. Always a flirt.Should I be worried?

The final score...

With the generous offer of tag-teaming babysitting from BOTH sets of grandparents, Q and I took a short trip to the Loveliest Village on the Plains this weekend to watch my old Alma Mater play ball with Tennessee. We can't REALLY say Auburn WON... but they didn't LOSE. It was GREAT to see how campus is growing and changing. Q and I drove down memory lane- passing my old apartments, eating at Mellow Mushroom (YUM!) and we glimpsed the park where he dumped me once, then proposed later! (I know, can you believe they are one in the same?)

On the way there and back we passed the Pizza Hut we always stopped at to eat in Childersberg on the way to and fro Home Games the years we had tickets after graduation.

All in all, it was a great weekend! We enjoyed the company of our friends, the Holtcamps. Tim and Misty are long time friends. Their parents have hosted us for Auburn Games before at the Family R.V. spot. They shared their extra tickets! We enjoyed bbq by Q and some great company. Our other great friends, Chris and Chrystal, came along too... even though they are Bama fans. They cheered for AUBURN (a little) and we reciprocated in their game with GA... although they really didn't need it!

Q also got to visit with a Brew Buddy who has moved. They put us up for the night, so we never had to sleep in the van on the air mattress as we had planned.

Oktoberfest

Oh what fun! It's becoming a tradition to attend the Oktoberfest celebration on the Arsenal. Last year we went and Maddie had a ball. (Syd slept though most of it) But both girls had a big time this year. Maddie had her first port-o-potty experience. uggg. I wish we could have avoided that!
Maddie rode a few spinning rides. She liked the carousel and the large slide. She didn't like the noise of lots of the other rides. She REALLY wanted to win a shark, and Dad spent about $15 to that end... she finally settled for a small stuffed snake.

During dinner we enjoyed live music. Maddie danced for everyone... on the table. We were so proud! It was actually really cute. see for yourself!
